A Joint Investigation Team (JIT) is 'a time–limited investigation team set up between two or more EU countries (and/or third parties) to fight serious cross border crime. In particular, a JIT is appropriate for a demanding or difficult investigation requiring special coordination or concerted actions.' The main goal of this Joint Investigation Teams (JITs) Manual, which supplements the existing Eurojust/Europol document, 'Guide to EU Member States’ legislation on Joint Investigation Teams', is to inform practitioners about the legal basis and requirements for setting up a JIT and to provide advice on when a JIT can be usefully employed. As a living document, the manual will be updated regularly. Please check on the Eurojust or Europol website for the latest version. |
