EurActiv reported Turkey's chief EU negotiator, Egemen Bağış, attempting to unblock Ankara's accession bid to the EU by calling on European Union countries to call referenda on the country's EU membership. Turkey might also chose to consult its citizens, he said in talks with the Brussels media on the 29 September 2010.
