Article reports that Germany has raised the red flag, August 2010, in talks about reforming the rules governing national budgets in the European Union by warning that a proposal to ignore certain state-pension liabilities from nine other EU Member States could undermine the region’s stability pact.

EurActiv reported that the European Commission had said on 16 August 2010 that the call from the nine EU countries to take into account pension reform in EU rules on budget accounting was relevant, and that it would prepare a position on it soon.
