The Annual Meeting of the European Influenza Surveillance Network (EISN) was held in Sofia, Bulgaria, on 1-3 June 2010. Participants concluded that, based on countries’ experiences, systems installed prior to a crisis are easier to activate and are more effective during the actual event. The meeting was attended by representatives from the EU Member States and by experts from the US-based Center for Disease Control, the World Health Organization in Geneva and its regional Office for Europe.
