IMF likely to take lead if loans sought

Article reports that if Greece is forced to seek financial assistance from its eurozone partners and the International Monetary Fund under a deal agreed in Brussels at the European Council, 25-26 March 2010, the IMF would almost certainly take the lead in lending, according to officials in Brussels.

However, they insisted that the conditions of any such programme, and its surveillance, would be decided by European institutions and the IMF together, as a 'joint mechanism'.
