Striking Greek workers brought much of Athens to a standstill and held a protest rally outside parliament on the 5 march 2010 as legislators approved a new fiscal package aimed at ending the country’s four-month debt crisis.

The protests came as George Papandreou, Prime Minister, was due to hold meetings in Luxembourg and Berlin with Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the Eurogroup, and Angela Merkel, German Chancellor.
