EurActiv had earlier reported that reports in Russia suggested that that Ukraine was preparing to open negotiations on establishing a customs union with Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus, following the victory of Viktor Yanukovich in the 2010 Presidential Election in Ukraine. EU Foreign Ministers meeting on the 22 February 2010 were due to ponder what the EU could offer to keep Ukraine interested in links with the West. |
