Press Release: Mergers: Commission approves proposed acquisition of E.ON’s Transmission System Operator by TenneT

The European Commission cleared on 5 February 2010 under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed acquisition of Transpower Stromübertragungs GmbH (TPS) of Germany, a wholly-owned subsidiary of E.ON, by TenneT of The Netherlands. TPS is one of the four electricity Transmission System Operators in Germany. TenneT is the only Transmission System Operator in The Netherlands. After examining the operation, the Commission concluded that the transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA) or any substantial part of it.
