The European Commission cleared on 14 December 2009 under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed acquisition of joint control over MOL Energy Trade Ltd. (MET) by MOL Hungarian Oil and Gas Public Limited Company and Normeston Trading Limited. MOL is an integrated oil and gas group. Normeston is active in the trading of crude oil and refined oil products. MET is currently a wholly owned subsidiary of MOL located in Hungary. After examining the operation, the Commission concluded that the transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA) or any substantial part of it.
