Briefing document for Member States and European Commission on the evaluation of Article 13.1 health claims

The NDA Unit (Panel on Dietetic products, nutrition and allergies) of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), in November 2009, updated a briefing document describing how EFSA has followed consistent procedures for the evaluation of Article 13.1 claims, including the use of uniform scientific criteria for substantiation of claims and for the characterisation of foods. The document also takes into account discussions held at a meeting with Member States and the European Commission on 6 October 2009 and additional comments received.
