Press Release: Commissioner for Justice, Fundamental Rights and Civil Liberties needed for a citizens’ Europe

The European Union must make sure that fundamental rights are not sacrificed on the altar of internal security. This was the core message of the opinion An Area of Freedom, Security and Justice by rapporteur Mr Pariza Castaños (Employees Group, Spain), which deals with the forthcoming Stockholm strategy to be adopted by the Council in December 2009.
