Press Release: Civil society takes steps to obtain consultative status in the Union for the Mediterranean

In the context of the Euromed Summit held in Egypt on 18-19 October 2009, 150 representatives from Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions gathered for two days in the premises of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, house of wisdom and intercultural dialogue. A final declaration was adopted with recommendations on climate change, the economic crisis, demographic and cultural changes and the role of Economic and Social Councils in the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM).
