EurActiv reports that Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt, who helped secure peace in Bosnia with the 1995 Dayton agreement, held talks with Bosnian politicians on 8-9 October 2009 to seek a solution to deepening ethnic divisions and the threat of new conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The outcome of the talks as reported in the Financial Times and other sources was that leaders of Bosnia-Herzegovina agreed to try to achieve a breakthrough on their ethnically divided country’s future by the 20 October 2009 in order to revive integration plans with the European Union.
