EurActiv reports that United Kingdom Conservative Party MEP Edward McMillan-Scott was elected to become a Vice-President of the European Parliament on the 14 July 2009. This would infuriate his political group, the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR), which had nominated a Pole, Michal Tomasz Kaminski, as their nominated candidate.
