Press Release: Consumers’ rights in consumer sales: Commission launches infringements proceedings against the Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Latvia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal and Slovenia

On 25 June, 2009, the European Commission sent letters of formal notice to the Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Latvia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, and Slovenia for inadequate transposition of Directive 1999/44/EC on certain aspects of the sale of consumer goods and associated guarantees into their national law, since it had concerns that their national laws may not be sufficient to implement the Directive.
