The last formal Environment Council under the Czech Presidency was held on 25 June, 2009, in Luxembourg. Environment Commissioner Stavros Dimas represented the European Commission. Under the points on the agenda without discussion (the A points) EU environment ministers approved conclusions on the White Paper on Adapting to Climate Change. Under the items for discussion, the Council reached a political agreement on revised legislation on industrial emissions and adopted conclusions on invasive alien species, biodiversity and bio-waste. The Presidency presented a progress report on soil and an exchange of views was also held on the EU's position on a post-2012 climate agreement.
