EU plans tougher cybercrime laws

Article reports that the European Commission is planning to impose harsher penalties for people who use the internet to commit crimes. New rules could see jail sentences for cybercrimes increased to more than five years, from about one to three years at present.

Radomir Jansky, one of the top cybercrime officials at the European Commission, updated MAAWG members on current EU legislative work addressing attacks against information systems and botnet issues in June 2009.
