This good practice note looks at three inter-related aims of modern human resources management: the promotion of gender equality, family friendly working practices and an appropriate work-life balance. The starting point for all of these is the principle of non-discrimination and equal opportunity in employment – a fundamental human right and a core International Labour Organization (ILO) labour standard that has been enshrined in the national legislation of the countries where the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) operates. This is the first in a new series of good practice notes prepared by the EBRD’s Environment and Sustainability Department. |
