The European Commission authorised, under the EC Treaty’s rules on state aid, a Swedish grant of €11 million (SEK 123.5 million) for a staff training programme at Scania's plants at Södertälje, Oskarshamm and Luleå, all in Sweden. The Commission found that the training programme was aimed at increasing the general knowledge and skills of the workforce and should result in improving the workers' employability in the heavy vehicles industry and associated sectors. The aid will lead to additional training that would not have been carried out without the aid. The Commission therefore concluded that the measure was compatible with Article 87.3.c of the EC Treaty, which allows aid to develop certain economic activities. |
