Article reports that the UK government’s attempts to part-privatise Royal Mail gained some much-needed momentum, April 2009, when rival Deutsche Post emerged as a potential bidder. The German mail and logistics group joins TNT of Holland and CVC, the private equity firm, on a list of those thought to be considering taking a stake in the state-owned postal operator. However on the 6 May 2009 Deutsche Post pulled out of the running for a stake in the UK's Royal Mail and instead turned the spotlight on the need to overhaul its own mail delivery business as it races to cut costs to cope with an unprecedented plunge in demand. |
