The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), on 6 April 2009, published the first in a series of opinions on flavouring products which are added to foods to give a 'smoked' flavour. A fifth opinion on the safety of flavouring product Scansmoke PB 1110 was published on 22 April 2009. Opinions on three further smoke flavourings were published on 12 June 2009.
