The Sub-Committee on Ireland's Future in the European Union was established by the Houses of the Oireachtas following the Lisbon Treaty Referendum result of 12 June 2008 in order to assess the implications of the result and the challenges facing Ireland within the EU, and to consider Ireland's future in the Union. The Committee's report, entitled 'Ireland's future in the European Union: Challenges, issues and options', was published on 27 November 2008 following seven weeks of discussions. It was discussed at the meeting of the Joint Committee on European Affairs which took place the same day.
