The European Commission strongly condemned the assassination of an aid worker in Batticaloa in Sri Lanka. The 28 year old victim worked for the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) in a shelter programme financed by the European Commission's Humanitarian Aid department (ECHO). The Commission extended its deepest sympathy to the family of Mr Vigneswaran. ECHO partner NRC has already lost three staff members in Sri Lanka in the past two and a half years. |
