Almost 23% of all 18 year olds in the European Union are not in the education system, while over 40% of teachers are more than 50 years old in Germany, Italy, Sweden at primary education and in Denmark, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Sweden and Norway at secondary level of education. This is a small selection of key statistics on education coming from the joint UOE (UNESCO Institute of Statistics, OECD, Eurostat) data collection. It covers all EU member states, the candidate countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, Albania, United States and Japan. Data refer to 2006 for graduate data and to the school/academic year 2005/06 for all other data. |
