Press Release: Oireachtas Joint Committee on the Constitution announces a review of the constitutional referendum process

Ireland is one of the few EU states to hold referendums on amendments to EU treaties. This review was announced by the Joint Committee on the Constitution of the Houses of the Oireachtas (National Parliament) on 23 October 2008, following the 'No' vote by the Irish people on the June 2008 Referendum on the Lisbon Treaty.
