The European Commission for Development and Humanitarian Aid praised Cuba on 10 November 2008 for its response to Hurricane Paloma, which struck the island in the previous days. There had been concerns this hurricane would seriously damage recovery efforts following the effects of previous hurricanes. Cuban authorities evacuated more than one million people before Hurricane Paloma struck the island. |
