On 17 August 2007, the European Commission approved the multiregional operational programme 'Security for development' for the regions of Calabria, Campania, Apulia and Sicily in Italy covering the period 2007-2013. The operational programme comes under the ‘Convergence Objective’ and has a total budget of around €1.16 billion. The aid provided by the European Union (EU) from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) amounts to some €579 million, which represents around 2.0% of Community aid to Italy under the cohesion policy for 2007-2013. |
