Report of a bomb attack in Istanbul, 27 July 2008. The Turkish Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, implied the bombings that killed 17 people were the work of the Kurdish separatist PKK group.

On the same day Turkey's Constitutional Court began to consider whether to ban Mr Erdogan and his AKP Party from politics for alleged anti-secular activities.
