Lithuania raises Russia concerns

Lithuania has rejected a proposed compromise, April 2008, which would have paved the way for talks on an EU-Russia partnership deal to begin. However, Poland suggested that it had softened its opposition to the start of the talks. EU Foreign Ministes on the 29 April 2008 discussed a brief for the negotiations (Council negotiating directives for a new agreement to provide a comprehensive framework for EU-Russia relations).
