An £8.7m government grant for training aid at Vauxhall's Ellesmere Port car plant has been approved by the European Commission, April 2008, following a nine-month probe by the European Commission. The in-depth investigation was opened by the Commission in June 2007 because of doubts that the grant complied with European Union rules on state aid for training.
