Roaming limitations

Telecoms ministers will discuss the European Commission’s proposal to limit roaming fees to 30% of the price of a domestic call next week. The majority of EU governments, with the exception of the UK and France, support the proposal although they disagree over the level of the cap and whether it applies to text messages.

The centre-right EPP-ED group in the European Parliament has been forced to change its rules of procedure to avoid damaging splits over who should lead the group until 2009.
