Press Release: Declaration by the Presidency on behalf of the European Union on the conduct of the general election in Pakistan

The European Union welcomes the elections held in Pakistan on 18 February 2008. It congratulates the Pakistani people for their commitment to democratic development and
their rejection of extremist forces. The elections provide a basis for a new democratic
development in Pakistan.
