Almost every UK region has difficulties in housing, health, education and crime because of increased migration, according to an official report issued October 2007.

The Migration Impacts Forum was launched by its co-chairs, Liam Byrne, Minister for Immigration at the Home Office, and Phil Woolas, Minister for Communities at Communities and Local Government, on 21 June 2007, when it met for the first time in London.

The Forum is an important new initiative by the Government, aiming to help build the evidence base for the effects which migration is having on communities and public services throughout the United Kingdom and on how these challenges can best be met.
