Seeds of distrust: the co-existence of genetically modified and conventional or organic crops in Greece

Abstract:

One of the most important problems relating to genetically modified organisms is that of the co-existence of conventional and organic crops with genetically modified crops. Can they co-exist? In this article the author examines the relevant provisions of European, Greek and international environmental law to argue for the adoption of a special legislative regime for dealing with the problems associated with the co-existence of GM and conventional or organic crops before presenting guidelines for responsible legislation on co-existence.
