Date: 09/11/1995 Film moguls have been sniffing around the Commission's interpreters studying the real thing in readiness for a new movie from Polygram, the people who brought you Four Weddings and a Funeral. Apparently the setting for what is being billed as a major production is more likely to be the UN than the EU, but the researchers wanted to experience life in a Commission booth all the same. They came and went without revealing whether they had extracted sufficient drama and pathos from a morning spent listening in to the linguistic challenges posed by a meeting of the veterinary and animal hygiene ad hoc working sub-committee intergroup, but the plot is thought to centre around a bunch of spies. No disputing, though, that Commission interpreters are a glamorous lot - one name being mooted for a leading role is Demi Moore. |
