In 2004 the State will pay about 9.8 billion euros in interest on the national debt. This means that interest charges will be about the same as in 2003. As a result of sluggish economic growth and the projected budget deficit, the national debt as a percentage of GDP is expected to increase again for the first time since 1993 |
