The European Commission on 19 July 2005 cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed acquisition of Fournier, a French pharmaceutical company by Solvay, a Belgian chemicals and pharmaceuticals group. The Commission's investigation had found that the transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA) or any substantial part of it. |
