The European Commission announced their long awaited proposals to improve the current animal welfare during transport rules on 16 July 2003. The UK Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs sought comments on the proposed changes in a consultation document issued on 24 July 2003. Deadline for responses: 8 October 2003.
