The European Union initialled a trade facilitation agreement with Lithuania on 24 July 2001. The agreement, known as a Protocol to the Europe Agreement on Conformity Assessment (PECA), will extend certain benefits of the EU's single market to Lithuania, and marks the first step towards establishing the EU Single Market in industrial sectors for which Lithuania has aligned its legislation with that of the EU. |
