Press Release: Equal opportunities policy: recruiting more women to positions of responsibility

As part of its staff policy on equal opportunities for women and men, the European Commission on 12 April 2006 adopted its female recruitment targets for 2006. These targets covered first recruitments and first appointments of women to management and other administration posts and were aimed at improving female representation in such posts which, despite some genuine progress, were still inadequate.
