Press Release: Single Euro Payments Area – Joint statement from the European Commission and the European Central Bank

Preview of a meeting on 4 May 2006 between the EU's Internal Market and Services Commissioner, Charlie McCreevy, and twenty top European bankers in order to emphasise to them the importance he attaches to the realisation of the Single Euro Payment Area (SEPA). To coincide with this, the European Central Bank (ECB) and the European Commission published a joint statement on the same day to stress their shared vision and express their continued close co-operation in relation to SEPA.
