Spanish MPs back EU constitution

The lower house of the Spanish parliament has voted overwhelmingly in favour of ratifying the proposed European Union constitution, 29 April 2005. Spain was the first EU country to back the treaty in a public referendum - but parliamentary approval was also needed for full ratification (it still needs to be agreed in Spain's upper house).
