This consultation paper requests views on the draft 'Road Transport (Working Time) Regulations' that will implement European Directive 2002/15/EC 'on the organisation of the working time of persons performing mobile road transport activities' into UK law. The Directive, which comes into force in March 2005, will provide extra protection for commercial drivers and crew of heavy goods vehicles and public service vehicles. Once implemented the regulations will ensure that drivers and crew are protected from working too many hours. Deadline for responses: 12 December 2004. |
