The Irish Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, Michael McDowell, on 5 May 2006, published a report on human trafficking by a working group comprising representatives from An Garda Siochana (Ireland's National Police Service) and the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform. This report examines the extent and nature of trafficking into Ireland of human beings for the purposes of sexual exploitation. It also identifies and examines the immigration controls and law enforcement measures in place to combat the phenomenon, as well as the legislation required to deal with it. |
