Every month, Financial Times/Harris Poll conducts a survey in major European countries on a variety of topics. This article provides a report of the results of the January 2007 FT-Harris Poll of over 5000 people in Germany, the UK, France, Spain and Italy. Amongst the insights is that an overwhelming majority of citizens in the big eurozone countries believe the euro has damaged their national economies, highlighting the popular scepticism that still surrounds Europe’s eight-year-old monetary union.
