On 12.7.00 the European Commission decided to open a formal investigation into aid relating to the restructuring of two companies situated in the new Bundesländer, former LandTechnik Schönebeck, now Doppstadt GmbH, and ILKA MAFA Kältemaschinenbau GmbH. The main reason for opening the investigation procedure was the Commission's doubts about the proportionality of the aid to the restructuring costs and benefits, a condition laid down in the Community guidelines on State aid for rescuing and restructuring firms in difficulty. |
