The two sides were expected to agree that such products, which include genetically-altered fruit and vegetables, should only be labelled as containing genetically-modified organisms (GMOs) if these made them “no longer equivalent” to the original food. MEPs had called for all GMOs in food to be indicated, but ministers said such detailed labelling was unnecessary.
