The United States has filed a dispute settlement case with the World Trade Organisation, alleging that European aircraft-maker Airbus received 'illegal' launch aid from France, the UK, Germany and Spain. The European Commission has filed a counter-case alleging that US aircraft-maker Boeing has received prohibited subsidies since 1992 in the form of research and development assistance from US government agencies. It is possible that the WTO may rule that both companies have received funding which contravenes its rules. |
