Press Release: Commission clears acquisition by tobacco manufacturing group Altadis of Italy’s tobacco distribution company, Etinera

The European Commission has granted regulatory approval to the acquisition of Etìnera by the Spanish logistics company Logista, belonging to the tobacco manufacturing group Altadis, on 5 October 2004. Etìnera is the monopolist distribution company for tobacco products in Italy and is currently owned by the British American Tobacco group. The Commission considers that, in the light of the limited position of Altadis in the upstream market for tobacco products in Italy, the operation does not raise competition concerns.
