Following the terrorist attacks on the United States on 11 September 2001, increased hostility and a prolonged upsurge of both verbal and physical attacks on Muslim groups and individuals were reported in the EU Member States. This report, prepared on behalf of the European Monitoring Centre on Racism and Xenophobia (EUMC), presents a comprehensive overview of changes in attitudes and acts of aggression against Muslims and other vulnerable groups in the then 15 EU Member States from 11 September till the end of the year 2001. The individual country reports are also available via the Source Url. Please note that the EUMC was replaced by the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) in 2007. |
